Our stay at Heliconia lodge was one of our favourite parts of our trip to Peru! Not to mention some of the best food we’ve eaten in Peru too!

Our tour guide Alfredo was highly knowledgeable about wildlife and life in the Amazon, he also made us laugh and entertained us at meal times by playing the guitar and singing.

I honestly can’t thank all the staff at Heliconia lodge enough for such an amazing stay.

I hope these pictures will help other travellers see how much fun we had!

I loved my stay at the Avatar Lodge. My room was basic but had everything I needed and I felt very safe (at night).

The food was incredible, even for a vegetarian like me. …

… I really loved the canopy and zip line adventure. That was something extra and so much fun!

The swimming pool was great, too!

I also loved the fact that we were given ‘rest’ between the activities so that I could freshen up or just relax.

I also really liked the fact that there were only 9 houses. I was the only one not speaking Spanish and the staff and guests didn’t speak English (apart from my guide). But the fact that everyone was so friendly and tried to communicate with me (and I tried in Spanish) was the best thing ever.

I really felt at home and that was something special. So thank you very much!”

We had a fab time. Went from São Paulo to Manaus to Juma Lodge. It was totally seamless. No waiting or errors or anything. Super impressed.

The staff at Juma were so helpful and friendly and kind. Amazing excursions and knowledge passed on and good environmental practices.

Bonito is nice but a totally different experience. The hotel was contrasting (you told me so, so all good), but tasteless food, like Disneyland and no eco consciousness at all ….

But we did nice excursions and the kids loved it.

This was a great trip, and we sincerely enjoyed our time at the Rainforest Lodge.

Having a chance to wake up and sleep next to the birds and animals of the canopy was unforgettable.

There was an astonishing variety of flora and fauna to explore and learn about; and I would highly recommend this to anyone.

The food and level of comfort was impeccable, especially for a more remote area.

Our Peru North birding experience was one of the highlights of our Peru trip

When planning our 3-week Peru trip this year, we decided we wanted to do it on our own not with a group or tour. But then we discovered Peru North and all of the great tours they offer.

We decided to do their 4-day Mountain Rainforest & Amazon Dry Forest Birding trip. It was one of the best decisions we made. Our guide Henry Pinedo was fantastic, better at finding and showing us birds than any I’ve ever met. We stayed at Pumarinri Lodge, which was exceptional! The food and service were top notch. The tour was completely personalized. We felt we were with friends rather than with a group of strangers.

We did do the rest of our weeks on our own. But that was only possible because my partner speaks fluent Spanish. It also took months of planning and daily problem solving in country. With Peru North, everything was arranged and ran like clockwork!

We’re already dreaming about our next venture to northern Peru and doing another excursion with Peru North.

Cusco was nice but we really loved every place in the north!
