This four-day tour is designed for those who want to get to Bwindi and back efficiently, without the extended overland circuit of a longer safari. The focus is the gorilla trek, and the itinerary is structured to give it the space it deserves.

The journey from Entebbe to Bwindi is by light aircraft to Kisoro Airstrip, cutting out the long overland drive and leaving more time in the forest. The afternoon of arrival can be spent at leisure or visiting the Batwa, forest-dwelling people with a long history of living within and around Bwindi, whose traditions offer a distinctive introduction to the landscape before the trek.

Gorilla trekking takes place on day three. After a briefing at park headquarters, guides lead you into the forest to locate a habituated family group. Duration depends on where the gorillas have moved: it can be as short as two hours or extend to a full day. The terrain in Bwindi is steep and frequently muddy; a walking stick is strongly advisable and a reasonable level of fitness is required. Once the group is found, you spend one hour with them at close range, observing feeding, social interaction, and the younger animals at play. Trekking certificates are collected at the park headquarters on the return.

Gorilla permits are limited and must be arranged in advance; we handle this as part of the booking process.

The tour begins in Entebbe, where guests are met on arrival and transferred to the hotel for an overnight stay. The flight to Kisoro Airstrip departs the following morning.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

A short flight from Entebbe to Kisoro Airstrip is followed by a transfer into Bwindi. The afternoon is free to rest at the lodge or visit a Batwa community on the forest edge - an encounter with one of East Africa's most historically distinctive forest peoples, whose culture, dances, and knowledge of the forest make for a grounding introduction to the landscape ahead. The gorilla trek takes place the following morning, beginning with a briefing at park headquarters. Guides then lead you into the forest to locate a habituated family group; the duration depends on where the gorillas have moved and can range from two hours to a full day. Once found, you spend one hour with the group at close range, watching feeding, social behaviour, and the interactions between adults and younger animals. The trek back to the lodge completes the day.

The Go Explore Experience we had in Uganda was incredible. Brian, and our driver Vincent, were both fantastic, professional and always on time. We felt well taken care of the whole time. The gorilla trekking and golden monkey trekking were some amazing sites to behold. The lodges we stayed at were extremely comfortable and all had really great food as well. I would highly recommend this company to all friends and family.
