Uganda Wild Adventure Safari
A private nine-day circuit of Uganda's finest parks
This nine-day private safari covers Uganda's most rewarding wildlife destinations in a single, well-sequenced circuit: Kibale National Park for chimpanzee trekking, Queen Elizabeth National Park and its remote Ishasha sector for game drives and tree-climbing lions, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest for mountain gorilla trekking, and Lake Mburo to finish.
We run this as a fully private tour throughout, which means a dedicated vehicle and guide from day one. The circuit is designed to move at a pace that allows for proper game viewing rather than rushing between parks, and we are happy to adjust emphasis based on individual priorities.
Gorilla trekking at Bwindi is the centrepiece for most guests. Permits are arranged in advance, and the trek itself can take anywhere from two hours to a full day depending on where the habituated family has moved. The terrain is steep and often muddy; guests should come prepared for a genuine physical challenge. The hour spent with the gorillas once located is, by most accounts, unlike anything else in African wildlife travel.
The rest of the circuit offers considerable variety: chimp trekking in one of Africa's most important primate forests, boat time on the Kazinga Channel among hippos and elephant, the unusual spectacle of lions at rest in fig trees at Ishasha, and a morning walk among zebra and giraffe at Lake Mburo before the return to Entebbe.

What you'll see and do
This is a customisable trip
Use the following itinerary for inspiration. Remember: all days, hotels and activities can be altered to suit your requirements. A GoExplore Safaris travel specialist will be happy to advise.
Day 1
Entebbe
Entebbe
The tour begins in Entebbe, where guests are met on arrival and transferred to the hotel. Entebbe sits on the shore of Lake Victoria and serves as the starting point for Uganda's national park circuit. This first night is a straightforward arrival stay; the drive to Kibale begins after breakfast the following morning.
Accommodation: No.5 Boutique Hotel
Day 2
Kibale National Park
Kibale Forest National Park
The drive to Kibale from Entebbe passes through the rolling hills and tea estates of western Uganda before the landscape shifts to dense tropical forest. Kibale is one of Africa's most significant primate habitats, home to around 13 species, with chimpanzees the most frequently encountered. After a briefing at park headquarters, the trek begins - typically lasting two to three hours through the forest interior. Alongside chimpanzees, you may encounter red-tailed monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys, L'Hoest's monkeys, and guereza colobus. The forest is also exceptional for birds, and the butterfly diversity is striking even by East African standards.
Accommodation: Papaya Lake Lodge
Day 3 –4
Queen Elizabeth National Park
Queen Elizabeth National Park
The drive south follows the western edge of the Rift Valley with views across toward the Rwenzori Mountains. Queen Elizabeth National Park covers a broad mix of savannah, wetland, and forest, supporting elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, spotted hyena, hippo, and more than 600 recorded bird species. An afternoon game drive on arrival is followed the next morning by an early start to catch predators before the heat builds. Later, a boat trip along the Kazinga Channel - the waterway connecting Lakes Edward and George - offers close-range views of hippos, buffalo, and elephant from the water. A visit to the Katwe salt lake, a working crater lake mined for centuries, adds a different dimension to the afternoon.
Accommodation: Kyambura Gorge Lodge
Day 5
Ishasha
Queen Elizabeth National Park
Ishasha is the remote southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. The main draw is its tree-climbing lions, which are regularly found resting in the large fig trees around the sector - behaviour uncommon among African lions and still not fully understood. A sundowner game drive offers the best chance of finding them settled in the branches before dusk. Elephant and buffalo are also regularly seen here, and the sector feels noticeably quieter and more remote than the main park to the north.
Accommodation: Ishasha Wilderness Camp
Day 6 –7
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
The drive from Ishasha to Bwindi climbs steadily into the mountains of southwestern Uganda, close to the Rwandan border. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to roughly half the world's remaining mountain gorillas. After a briefing at park headquarters, guides lead you into the forest to locate a habituated family group. The duration depends entirely on where the gorillas have moved: it can be as short as two hours or stretch to a full day. The terrain is steep and frequently muddy; a walking stick is strongly advisable. Once the group is found, you spend one hour with them - close enough to observe feeding, social interaction, and the younger animals at play. The afternoon after the trek is free; there is also the option to visit a local women's craft cooperative in the area.
Accommodation: Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp
Day 8
Lake Mburo National Park
Lake Mburo National Park
Lake Mburo is Uganda's smallest savannah national park and often passed over in favour of the larger reserves - which is part of its character. It is one of the few places in Uganda where impala are found, and also supports buffalo, waterbuck, oribi, zebra, giraffe, and hippo. Around 350 bird species have been recorded. An evening game drive on arrival is followed the next morning by an early nature walk - one of the more accessible walking opportunities in Uganda's parks - with giraffe and zebra among the species likely to be seen on foot before the drive back to Entebbe.
Accommodation: Mihingo Lodge
Day 9
Departure from Entebbe
Entebbe
Take an early morning nature walk which is a perfect way to explore the wild as you get up close to wildlife like Girrafes and zebras. Later drive back to Entebbe. You will stop by the Equator where you will get the opportunity to take some pictures and buy a few souvenirs. Thereafter after proceeding to Entebbe for your flight back home.

Go Explore gave us the greatest experience we have had in Uganda. Perfect in guiding us around and very flexible! We managed to even see the gorillas, though it was not initally planned.

The Go Explore Experience we had in Uganda was incredible. Brian, and our driver Vincent, were both fantastic, professional and always on time. We felt well taken care of the whole time. The gorilla trekking and golden monkey trekking were some amazing sites to behold. The lodges we stayed at were extremely comfortable and all had really great food as well. I would highly recommend this company to all friends and family.
