Lake Nakuru National Park

One of Kenya’s most popular parks, Lake Nakuru National Park is made up of grasslands, acacia woodlands and rocky escarpments. It’s a smaller park, but relatively easy to access, located near Nairobi.
A sanctuary for black rhinos and giraffes as well as being home to numerous southern white rhinos, Lake Nakuru National Park provides a habitat for big cats like cheetahs, lions and leopards as well as buffalo and waterbucks being regularly spotted in the park.
One of the main draws of the park is Lake Nakuru which provided a habitat for flocks of flamingos living on the shallow, alkaline waters, however with shifting conditions and rising water levels numbers have decreased as they move on to other Rift Valley lakes.
The park can easily be visited on a day trip or as part of a multi-day trip to neighbouring parks such as Naivasha, Elementaita and Bogoria National Reserve.

Maili Saba
I can highly recommend Maili Saba. It has a picturesque location overlooking the Great Rift Valley and volcano region, with lovely permanent tents each with en-suites and balcony, and all very nicely decorated. There is a communal pool and outside gazebos for relaxing. The main dining room and lounging area is stunning with striking cathedral ceiling and beautiful decor. The food is absolutely outstanding and the staff are warm, friendly and go out of their way to assist their guests. The first time I visited was a complete surprise organised by my Kenyan partner, and I've included it in our tour itineraries ever since.
