Wayfairer Reviews

What people are saying about Wayfairer

Denise Rappaport

What started out as a disaster at the airport, not letting us board because certain papers were not supplied, we went back home, and next day called Wayfairer. They had so personally helped us set up the itinerary with all that we wanted to see, and they had to start all over again. With flying colors Wayfairer came through without extra money to lay out. The trip was one of the best ever, all falling into place. Definitely we shall call on Wayfaire again.

Wayfairer helped me book the perfect trip for my husband's birthday. They worked with us to give us the best within our price range. The resort was a great recommendation, we couldn't have asked for better. We felt the support from the Concierge (Toon) through the whole process, even after we had returned home. Can't wait to plan our next trip!

Yvonne Dofflemeyer

Would highly recommend Wayfairer to everyone looking to for excellent service. My Safari was a trip of a life time. Every person who helped me in this journey were knowledgeable, pleasant and very patient. Thank you concierge Toon for handling everything so I could just relax and enjoy my trip.

Eric And Molly Roudabush

Wayfairer designed an absolutely beautiful honeymoon trip for us to Tanzania. From the breathtaking nature and wildlife viewing on safari to the relaxing beach vibes and fun aquatic activities of Zanzibar, we cannot say enough good things about our Wayfairer vacation. We did not need to worry about a single thing at any stop on our two-week trip because Wayfairer had already carefully planned out every detail, even down to transportation to and from our different accommodations.

Elena Makarova

Perfect planning, perfect execution of our vacation, can absolutely recommend this agency to others!

Elaine Kottler

Superbly arranged holiday by Wayfairer Travel. Their knowledge and experience meant they picked superb and very different locations for us, all of which complimented each other but gave vastly different experiences. By booking through Wayfairer it meant we never had to think about any travel arrangements outside getting to our local airport! Would recommend anyone booking this type of holiday to book through them.

Preferred hotels

A small selection of Wayfairer's carefully-selected hotels. All hotels can be changed to suit your requirements and budget

Kuro Tarangire

Kuro Tarangire consists of six large safari tents which are spaced out to ensure ample privacy. The rooms are made of canvas and thatch and we particularly like how open and light the tents are, afforded by mesh screens with curtains which can be pulled, or left open to enjoy the rays of morning sunlight warming the room.

As well as a large bed, both indoor and outdoor bucket showers can be found in the tent and a private verandah.

The cosy main area is open-sided allowing for fantastic views and wildlife watching from the camp. It has a dining area and lounge furnished with hides, canvas and a few colourful textiles.

Arusha Coffee Lodge

The lodge has undeniably gorgeous suites and rooms scattered throughout the coffee trees, with wonderful gardens, sun & shade spots and luxury amenities.

Decorated in coffee hues, each space is warm and inviting with wooden beams and a canopy bed. Suites have a rainfall shower, large bathtub, outdoor terrace with a log fire, and a 32” TV. Rooms have en-suites with a shower and bath, an in-room log fire and a veranda overlooking the surrounding garden.

Traders Walk is a fantastic onsite centre that showcases the best of Tanzania’s businesses, where you can support local retail and food outlets. Guests can also enjoy a range of luxury spa treatments at the spa near the swimming pool.

The Main Plantation House is home to multiple dining and relaxation areas, including the Grill Room, which offers guests international gourmet cuisine, The Bistro, which is open all day for large dishes, drinks, coffee, cakes, and stone baked pizzas. Enjoy a four course garden buffet for lunch, or enjoy the privacy of 24 hour room service; there are plenty of options at Arusha Coffee Lodge.

Msambweni Villas

Owner run, this secluded property overlooks a remote and pristine beach, ideal for that complete 'get away' experience. Situated in a quiet, unique setting on a stretch of completely unspoilt sandy beach surrounded by 28 acres of natural land, get ready to fall in love.

The property has 700 feet of private beach along a four mile stretch of coastline with palm trees offering peace and tranquillity where guests can really be at one with nature.

Enjoy complete exclusivity with three spacious and luxurious suites in the Main House, 3 private villas and an Ocean Suite.

Naibor Camp

Naibor Camp is one of the private Kenyan owned collection of 3 contemporary and stylish properties – Main Naibor, Little Naibor and Naibor Wilderness - all situated in the heart of the main Masai Mara reserve.

This gem is a classic East African tented camp, with the ideal location, situated on the banks of the southern bank of the Talek river right in the heart of the Big 5 viewing area.

With just seven large tented suites spread out along the river, each has a private 10 foot veranda complete with private dining areas and en suite bathrooms. The tents nestle amongst a riverine forest and are spaced so that each has a unique view of the surrounding bush and wildlife.

Ololo Safari Lodge

Owner run this beautiful old ranch has been converted into a boutique lodge that just oozes charm and is well worth a stay for those travelling in Kenya.

Situated atop the ridge of Mbagathi River, here you can enjoy the home comforts of the lodge as well as the beautiful scenery and lovely wildlife all in close proximity to the highlights of Nairobi – visit the Giraffe centre, Sheldrick Elephant orphanage or Kitingela Glass studio to just name a few!

Bought to life by the lovely Australian owners, you’ll enjoy warmth of a family atmosphere and the superb ‘paddock to plates’ dining experience fresh from the 20-acre working farm out back! Cosy up to the fire in the colder months and enjoy great views across the park as you sit outside by the pool for lunch in the warmer days.

Almanara Boutique Hotel

Situated on the central stretch of Diani Beach on the Southern Kenyan coast, Almanara Boutique Hotel offers premium and private accommodation.

Consisting of just five spacious rooms with private verandas, sweeping ocean views, and gorgeous marbled bathrooms, Almanara is an exceptional property exuding understated elegance.

The hotel’s Water Sports Centre offers the opportunity to try kite and windsurfing, diving, snorkelling, and paddle boarding. You can go on a deep sea fishing trip, play golf and tennis, or go horse riding on the beach.

Saruni Wild

Saruni Wild is situated in the Mara plains, nestled within the border between Mara North Conservancy and Lemek Conservancy.

With impressive populations of plains game and migration activity, this intimate camp is set in a rich, exhilarating area of the Masai Mara.

This three tent luxury camp is thoughtfully executed with all the modern comforts and luxurious camping amenities. You'll feel at home with beautiful Kenyan furnishings and hospitality, and you'll even spot wildlife right next to your tent.

Kuthengo Camp

Kuthengo Camp is situated on a large open plain stretching towards the banks of the Shire River. This secluded spot is located in the Liwonde National Park, where you will find the camp tents nestled among the unspoiled scenery, Fever trees and Baobabs.

our four spacious and modern safari tents are all en-suite, each with a bathtub and an outdoor shower. Guests can enjoy the sights and sounds of the surrounding wildlife from the comfort of the camp, or from the cool of our plunge pool. This retreat can offer guests many activities to enjoy in complete privacy, including game drives, boat cruises and walking safaris.

Mkulumadzi Lodge

Situated on the confluence of the Shire and Mkulumadzi River, this lodge is the most luxurious in the whole of Majete. With no age restriction and plenty of family friendly activities on offer, it’s the perfect place to create fond family memories together. The lodge has 8 luxury chalets to choose from, where you can relax and enjoy the intimate sights and sounds of the riverbank in the heart of the Majete Wildlife Reserve.

Protea Hotel Blantyre Ryalls

Protea Hotel Ryalls is situated in the central business district of Blantyre and only 15 minutes from Chileka International Airport.

The hotel is one of the most technologically advanced hotels in the country, offering spacious, elegant and comfortable en suite rooms which allow you to travel in style. The hotel has excellent wining and dining facilities, and offers an ideal venue for conferencing and banquets. Guests can also relax by our pool or work up a sweat at our fitness center.

Deception Valley Lodge

Providing the perfect contrast to Botswana’s wetter environs further north a stay at Deception Valley Lodge offers guests the chance to experience the Kalahari Desert and the way of the life of the ancient San people, who have lived off this land for thousands of years.

The lodge is set in a 43,000-hectare private conservancy that borders the massive Central Kalahari Game Reserve and because this is a private reserve there are more activities to offer to explore this fascinating area.

Guests have the choice to head out on foot, under the expert guidance of members of the Naro Bushmen tribe, to learn about the smaller things that you might miss from the game drive vehicle. Your San guides will also demonstrate how they survive in this harsh environment and you will start to see the world through their eyes, in our experience this walk doesn’t come with the awkwardness of some cultural activities and it is a fascinating activity.

Oddballs' Enclave

This is a small camp and it really feels as though it isn’t imposing on the stunning environment surrounding it, which we love.

The main area consists of a cosy central deck which has plenty of seating options for relaxing and taking in the views, there is a semi-open dining area to one side and a lounge to the other. The lodge is full of character and fun details, such as the hanging seats made from half a traditional wooden mokoro.

The tents themselves have everything that you need but aren’t over the top and it is fair to say that they are on the more basic side of the tented camps that you will find in Botswana. However, we think they are just the perfect blend of comfort and adventure. Each meru style tent is raised off the ground on elevated wooden decks, giving you lovely views to appreciate from the private deck and accompanying directors’ chairs. Inside there are double or twin beds, a hanging rack, a lockable chest and various lamps. The outside bathroom is brilliant, especially the open-air shower giving you the chance to soak up the views, even from here.

Chobe Bakwena Lodge

Bakwena’s main area and all 15 rooms are built on raised decks to make the most of it’s riverfront location. It is a secluded oasis hidden away among the riverine forest. The lodge has been crafted in an ecologically responsible way and this was of upmost important to the owners. The chalets were built utilising the ecobeam method which uses a pole structure and sandbag infill, which not only is a good thermo regulator but it was one of the most eco-friendly methods available when constructing.

The 15 chalets are made up of ten “River View Chalets”, which all face the Chobe River, and five “Treetop Chalets”, which are raised on stilts 3m off the ground to give the feeling of being in the tree canopy. Within these rooms, there is one family room and a honeymoon chalet. Much care and thought has been taken over the details in decorating the rooms and they have a light, modern feel with authentic African touches.
