Classic
Camp Xakanaxa
Located on the banks of the Khwai river, Camp Xakanaxa offers its visitors spectacular wildlife viewing opportunities. It’s the perfect place to relax and unwind in the Okavango Delta. Pronounced Ka-ka-na-ka, this rustic yet beautiful lodge has eleven spacious tented rooms that overlook the Xakanaxa Lagoon. Each room has a private viewing deck, and the sightings are incredible.
Xakanaxa is a mix of the old and the new, and it retains an old worldly safari vibe while catering for some more modern comforts. The camp has an exquisite central area with an elevated sundeck with a large pool. This is a great comfort option bordering on luxury that wont break the bank.
Deluxe
Kwetsani Camp
Kwetsani belongs to Wilderness Safaris, and is one of our favourite camps in the Okavango. In terms of location, it is nestled in the middle of the Jao concession, and can only be reached by boat during the wet season. It surrounded by jackalberry, palms, and mangosteen and fig trees.
The camp has five tree house tents that are remincent of the ewoks. It is a truly beautiful camp and the views from the rooms over the flood plains are extraordinary.
Owing to the remoteness of the camp, wildlife in the area is phenomenal. During the wet season, game viewing is done from boats and mokoros, or drives around Hundu island.
Classic
Splash Camp
Splash Camp is situated in the heart of the Okavango Delta, within the Private Kwara Reserve. This brand new camp belongs to the Kwando Safaris portfolio and it offers a very relaxed, friendly and authentic atmosphere.
The area has long been known as Splash due to the huge water crossings that had to be negotiated to access the camp area.
The camp is located around a paned lagoon with each of the 12 rooms looking out over the pan. There is game all year round, easily viewable from the rooms.

What can I say?! Everything was amazing- from start to finish. Rory did a fantastic job in tailoring the perfect safari for me and my girlfriends. Everything went so smoothly. What an extraordinary experience !! The guides and the trackers have an extraordinary connection with the land and the animals. They are so knowledgeable as well. The accommodations were superb, the camps very ample and comfortable with not too many people. Great food and drinks as well. The staff from all camps were very nice and caring. Wonderful life experience. Will share with all our friends hoping we can get somebody else to enjoy the experience. Many thanks!

Having been to Africa on safari 4 times previously and not seen them, we were on a quest to find African wild dogs. I contacted The African Wild after doing an internet search on the dogs and their webpage came up. Rory set us up with a trip into 2 camps in the Kwando Concession in Botswana. We saw the wild dogs on our very first game drive!
Our trip was set-up excellently with all our accommodations and transfers going as planned. The accommodation and food at each lodge was amazing. We could not have asked for better. The staff at both lodges were very kind and friendly and really made us feel welcome. Our game drives were loaded with highlights. The guides and trackers at the Kwando camps are absolutely excellent. They are knowledgeable and dedicated to making the game drives memorable.
We can’t thank Rory and The African Wild enough for planning a truly fabulous safari for us. We loved every minute!
