Kwando Reserve
Spanning over 2,300 square kilometres in Botswana's far north, the Kwando Reserve presents a vast, pristine, and lesser-visited wilderness.
The region is dominated by the Kwando River which nurtures a diverse landscape of wetlands, grasslands, mopane forests, and riverine woodlands. The river is flanked by lush vegetation, in which lurks the full cornucopia of aquatic species, including hippos and crocodiles.
This is an exceptional safari destination. The reserve is home to herds of elephant, buffalo, and zebra grazing in the open plains, while predators such as lions, leopards, and cheetahs roam the grasslands in search of prey.
The reserve is also a birdwatcher's paradise, with over 400 species of birds recorded in the area. Spot African fish eagles, kingfishers, and bee-eaters, as well as raptors such as martial eagles and bateleurs.
