Mesa Verde National Park
The reason to visit Mesa Verde National Park is to see one of its ancestral Puebloan cliff dwellings.
Ranger-guided tours of the unique structures including Cliff Palace, the largest cliff dwelling in North America, are offered in the park. The park also has hiking trails including the 7.8-mile round-trip (12.5km) Prater Ridge Trail and the 2.4-mile round-trip (3.8km) Petroglyph Point Trail that goes to a petroglyph (rock carving) panel.
