Tackle the legendary Inca Trail for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to approach Machu Picchu through breathtaking mountain scenery, as the Incas themselves did many centuries ago. The classic four-day Inca Trail trek involves visits to all the trail’s famous sites, including the ruins at Runkurakay, Sayacmarca, Phuyupatamarca and Wiñay Wayna. Your equipment will be carried by experienced porters and you will sleep in tented luxury as you make your way to your ultimate destination of Machu Picchu, which you will view at sunrise through the Sun Gate.

Arriving in Lima you'll be met by a SA Expeditions representative and taken to a carefully selected airport hotel, in order to minimise transit times the following morning.

Lima to Cuzco

A day to acclimatise to the altitude in Cuzco – with the opportunity to explore, eat and shop to your heart’s content.

Enjoy a guided tour of Cusco, with stops at the Incan sites of Sacsayhuaman and Koricancha, and Cusco Cathedral.

Cusco to Wayllabamba

Depart early for Ollantaytambo in the Sacred Valley, then trek to the Llactapata ruins, and camp at Wayllabamba.

Ascend the challenging but rewarding Dead Woman’s Pass, take in breathtaking views, then camp at Pacamayo.

Enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime sunrise over Machu Picchu, take a tour of the ruins, then catch a scenic train ride back to Cusco.
