This once-in-a-lifetime adventure is truly a multi-sensory experience for the adventurer looking to view, photograph and admire North America’s most magnificent big game animal. From your comfortable camp (one that we’ve made bear resistant by surrounding with an electric fence), we spend three full days watching the world famous bears of Katmai National Park in a true wilderness setting.

What you'll see and do
Day 1
Lake Clark and Katmai National Park

You’ll start the day with an orientation at our Anchorage facility before heading to Merrill Field for the stunning bush flight from Anchorage to Port Alsworth. After meeting your guide, you'll enjoy a delicious lunch on the shores of Lake Clark, discuss the adventure, and then load into float planes bound for Katmai National Park. You’ll establish camp and have a hearty dinner, before heading out in search of the amazing creatures that we came to witness – Alaska’s coastal brown bear.

Day 2 & 3
Katmai National Park

You'll spend your days admiring the size and fishing ability of these immense and majestic creatures. The surrounding countryside allows for unobstructed view of the bears and the landscape. With copious amounts of daylight, you’ll head out on exploratory hikes, spend hours behind your camera, or simply enjoy the silence and solitude of the remote camp in the wilderness of Alaska.

Day 4
Port Alsworth

You'll will return to Port Alsworth on a float plane before checking into the lakeside cabins of the Farm Lodge. After hot showers and a celebratory dinner in the lodge dining room, you’ll tally up your wildlife sightings, and allow the satisfaction of the experience soak in.

Where you'll stay
Day 5
Lake Clark National Park
After breakfast at the lodge, you’ll pay a morning visit to the Lake Clark National Park visitor’s center where you’ll have a chance to purchase maps and postcards. You'll spend the rest of the day hiking to Tanalian Falls along Lake Clark National Park’s only developed trail, before boarding an afternoon charter flight back to Anchorage. If you are departing Alaska on this day, please schedule all homebound flights for after 9 pm.

All meals |
All meals from lunch on day 1 through lunch on the final day of the itinerary. Breakfasts include steel cut oats, scrambles, homemade granola and cereal, locally roasted coffee, assorted tea and cocoa. Lunches could include an Italian club torta sandwich, asiago bagels and Alaska lox, a curried tuna pita, crackers with genoa salami with a roasted red pepper goat cheese spread. Snack mixes and energy bars available throughout the day. Dinners could include pasta carbonara, Alaska reindeer rotini, chicken and chipotle enchiladas, and more. Vegetarian and special dietary requirements catered for on request. |

I enjoyed everything about this trip. I liked the welcome dinner, the B&B in Anchorage was beautiful, the flights to and out of Denali were amazing, the train was fun. And of course Denali itself was just stunningly beautiful....
