Fly to Pokhara - Trek to Tirkedhunga Village

There’s a private transfer to the airport for the flight to Pokhara. A private transfer takes you to the trek’s start at Nayapul. Follow an ascending trail to reach Tirkhedhunga (approx. 1600m). Walking time around 6 hours, 580m of ascent. One option is to overnight in Pokhara as an extra day and have some time by the lake before setting off.

Includes: breakfast, lunch, dinner
Trek Ghorepani

It's a steep climb of 2 hours to Ulleri (2070m) and mainly uphill as you continue to Banthanti, with impressive Himalayan views. Crossing a stream, the trail climbs to reach Nangethanti. The uphill continues until bustling Ghorepani (2900m), always considered a stopping place between the Kali Gandaki Valley and Pokhara. Walking time 6-7 hours, 1300m of ascent.

Includes: breakfast, lunch, dinner
Poon Hill Sunrise and Trek to Tadapani

Wake up before dawn to ascend to the top of nearby Poon Hill (3210m) to see the sunrise at this classic view point. Return to Ghorepani for breakfast and then it's time to descend. Walking time is around 5 hours, plus 1-2hrs for the excursion to Poon Hill. Total descent 580m.

Includes: breakfast, lunch, dinner
Trek to Chhomrong

At first, the trail follows the steep hillside, with short sections of ascent and descent until Chuile (2309m). The trail then begins to descend more steeply to cross a river via a suspension bridge, followed by a few hours more contour walking to reach Chhomrong (2210m). Walking time approx 6hrs.

Includes: breakfast, lunch, dinner
Trek to Bamboo

Start by descending a stone-stepped trail, and then you have to ascend through forests and emerge at Sinuwa Hill. Some great views of the Annapurnas and Fishtail make it worthwhile. The trail mostly contours the hill side before dropping down to Bamboo (2315m), a collection of trekking lodges. Walking distance 8km, around 5hrs, with 850m of ascent/785m.

Includes: breakfast, lunch, dinner
Trek Deorali

You continue up the Modi Khola Valley and 90 minutes beyond Dovan the trail can vary due to avalanches and detours are uncertain. Passing Hinko Cave, it's a continual rise to Deorali (3170m). Walking distance 12.5km,1000m of ascent and 190m descent, 5-6hrs.

Trek to Machhapucchare Base Camp (MBC)

Includes: breakfast, lunch, dinner
Trek to the Annapurna Sanctuary

This sanctuary is the prize for your efforts as you head up a steep trail, possibly through snow. One final steep section and then the mountain amphitheatre will appear. The distance is 3.5km, 550m of ascent, 100m descent, 3-4hrs walking. Overnight at 4130m.

Includes: breakfast, lunch, dinner
Down to Dobhan

Today is virtually all downhill. Your legs will certainly feel it as you descend steeply for much of the way to Dobhan (2540m) and the temperature warms up. Walking distance is 13.5km with 1710m descent and just over 100m ascent. Around 5-6hrs walking.

Includes: breakfast, lunch, dinner
Return to Chhomrong

You enter the forest again, past Bamboo and Sinuwa Hill Top and then descend to the Chhomrong Khola. Then you have to ascend to Chhomrong itself. Walking distance is almost 14.5km with 430m ascent and 710m descent, over 5hrs.

Includes: breakfast, lunch, dinner
To the Roadhead and Transfer to Pokhara

It’s an initial short ascent from Chommrong before descending sharply to Jhinu. The walking then becomes mostly downhill, past villages and cultivated terraces to reach a 4WD track at Syauli Bhatti. What people are saying about Snow Cat Travel

I waited 50 years to visit Upper Mustang Nepal and now thanks to Snow Cat Travel the dream has been realised. The journey was above expectation I will never find another one to equal the experience. As we travelled it was like peeling an onion each layer had a new adventure. The highlight was Lo Gekar gompa when I saw it tears came to my eyes. Mark took great care in planning the journey taking into account altitude, ages and any health issues. It paid off I never even got a headache even at 14000 feet at Lo Manthang. Thank you Mark I will always be grateful to you for arranging my Mustang Experience.

I am one of the authors of the forthcoming Lonely Planet guidebook to Nepal. Snow Cat handled the very complicated logistics of my recent month-long research trip to the country. They did so brilliantly. I would not hesitate to use them again and would advise anyone else to make them their first call.

We had very specific requirements for our trip to Nepal. We wanted to see wildlife including lots of birds, to see something of how people live in the rural parts of the country and of course to see the Himalayas. The trip that Mark put together ensured that all this was achieved, including about 240 bird species. This was due both to the itinerary and the superb guides that Mark found for us. This made it very special as it was probably not typical of the usual holiday to Nepal. Nothing was too much trouble in making the arrangements and the team in Nepal were also excellent. If you want a tailor-made trip to Nepal with some ideas of you want then Snowcat is the organisation that will ensure that you will have a wonderful holiday. Even if you want to see Nepal with no specific ideas then Mark has an excellent knowledge of the country and where you can go. I cannot recommend Snowcat too highly.
