The ascending trail of the mountain is easy graded with the help of ropes attached by our Sherpa. Oxygen and mask will be required on the summit day only.

The Gobi Desert provides the backdrop as you explore, discover and understand the Gobi as well as meet some of the people that make their home in these remarkable landscapes.

The Gobi principally spans six of Mongolia’s aimags (provinces) and our Gobi Insight trips takes in three of them - the eastern Gobi (Dorngobi), the Middle (Dudgobi) and the Southern (Omnogobi). Mongolians say they have at least 33 different types of desert - with the types frequently varying depending on water supply, minerals and location. For certain it is huge open expanse of extremes. Everest Base Camp Trek is a once in a lifetime must-do activity! If you are an avid trekker, you definitely desire to trek to different Himalayan regions. And of course, Nepal comes at the top of your bucket list as it houses 8 of 14 eight-thousanders in the world. Mt. Everest (8,848 m), the world’s highest peak lies in Nepal.

The Great Himalayan Trail (1,700 km) is one of the longest and highest trekking trails in the world. It extends from east to west of Nepal combining ten major sections. And the 8 eight-thousanders make the respective major section of this trekking route that requires nearly 157 days to complete.

The Everest Base Camp trek takes you to the closest possible place of the world’s highest point. Mt. Everest Base Camp (5,364 m) gives you the lifelong memory of the Great Himalayas looming on a row. Kalapatthar (5,550 m), the best vantage point of Everest region is the only place from where you see the Everest Summit!

The Sherpa settlement areas, lush rhododendron, alpine forests and amazing landscapes are equally rewarding. Everest region used to be the residential region of Rai ethnic communities in the past. Nevertheless, nowadays, the Sherpa people are the residents of this region. Therefore, it is also called the Sherpa Capital as well. The ancient monasteries, mani walls and chortens decorated by the prayer flags and wheels are the cultural attractions of this trek.

Basakhan is a Kazakh eagle hunter and the main trek that forms the centrepiece of the itinerary was designed and put together between EL and Bashakhan. We have worked with Bashakhan for many years and he was always mentioning this trekking route he would like to focus on and so we have created this experience around the route. It is Bashakhan’s local knowledge is what makes this itinerary so special.

You will experience a different more hidden side of the Altai as you trek with Bashakhan from his summer pasture at Tsengel Khairkhan to the Altai Tavan Bogd Lakes of Khoton and Khurgan Nuur. Although this brief description does not do this remarkable region justice - it is unexpectedly beautiful. And off the beaten track. This is the Altai that few others get to see. An alternative to the popular Tsagaan Gol trek.

Starting in Kota Kinabalu, travel deep into one of the most remote parts of Sabah state by 4-wheel drive and boat. You’ll travel through the homeland of the Murat people towards Batu Punggul, an 800 ft forest-clad limestone pinnacle and explore caves via underground streams, sleeping under the stars in a comfortable hammock camp.

Spend the night in a longhouse in Batu Punggal and enjoy an evening of Murut hospitality before a morning of light trekking and swimming in local waterfalls.

Travel onto Kabili-Sepilok Forest, renowned for its orchids, ancient trees, its orangutans. Visit the Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary before travelling along the Lower Kinabatangan River passing mangroves, wetlands and lush rainforests, with plenty of opportunities for wildlife spotting.

Travel onward to Danum Valley Conservation Area where you’ll enjoy trekking, night drives and night walks and one of the best wildlife viewing experiences in Borneo. Keep watch for wild orangutan, slow loris, gibbons, red leaf langurs, western tarsiers, flying squirrels and maybe even the elusive clouded leopard.

After an early morning transfer and quick flight back to Kota Kinabalu, you’ll head towards the sleepy beaches of Kudat. Relax and rejuvenate on the sleepy beaches of Kudat for a few days before your flight back to the UK.
