Sri Lanka Nuwara Eliya

Capital of its namesake district, Nuwara Eliya, sometimes referred to as ‘Little England’, is one of the key tea making cities in Sri Lanka.

It features a number of historical sites and buildings harking back to its colonial past with the British Cemetery, Victoria Park and an 18-hole golf course.

April is a great time to visit Nuwara Eliya, with the Sinhalese and Tamil New Year festivals celebrated as well as horse and motor racing taking place.

The countryside surrounding Nuwara Eliya is covered with farmland as well as tea plantations, with the ‘Lovers Leap’ waterfall, situated within a plantation, only a short walk from the city.
