The Kakamega Forest Reserve is an example of what’s left of the rainforest that used to stretch across central Africa.

On a walking safaris here you will see bird and primate life that has more in common with the forests of Uganda and the Congo than anything else you’ll have seen in Kenya.

Located northwest of Nairobi in Kakamega and Nandi County, Kakamega Forest Reserve is accessible by car. You can hire a car or taxi, taking about six hours from Nairobi.
