True economy class boats are an endangered species in the Galapagos as operators chase more lucrative higher spending markets.

The M/Y Golondrina is one of the remaining economy / tourist class yachts, and I'd say it's the best Galápagos cruise ship for more budget-conscious visitors.

Cheaper cruises usually cut costs with shorter itineraries to only the inner islands: the Golondrina is the best and cheapest budget option with itineraries to the outer islands. (I also recommend the Aida Maria which may visit all islands, but is usually more expensive.)

The four night itinerary “B” to all the key points on the western islands is especially popular.

The yacht is designed in the traditional style. It’s small and basic, but has everything you’d need: AC, private bathrooms, a bar, and good meals freshly prepared by the on-board chef.

It carries just 16 passengers, so you’ll get to know your fellow passengers, and operations and guides are usually pretty good.
